Queensland Hydro has also allocated initial community benefits funding for the proposed Pioneer-Burdekin Project in recognition that we are already creating impacts and disruption to our project communities.

Several early initiatives have been identified through ongoing consultation with community members and feedback received as part of the draft community benefits framework consultation. These early initiatives will deliver immediate benefits to the Pioneer-Burdekin community while the project goes through the approvals process.

To ensure transparency and consistency, the early initiatives will be evaluated against the community benefits assessment criteria and reviewed by an external independent verifier. The assessment criteria are a three-step evaluation process considering the strategic fit, community value, and deliverability of the initiative.

Following an investment decision on the proposed Pioneer-Burdekin Project, a Community Grants Program will be launched in the local project area and a Community Benefits Panel will be established.

For further information on the early initiatives under consideration, please contact the project team on 1800 875 099 (Pioneer-Burdekin Project) or email: pioneer-burdekin@qldhydro.com.au.
